Frequently Asked Questions
Some of the cache sites are on private property – do I have permission to be there? Yes, we have obtained permission from the landowners for geocachers to enter the property at each of our cache sites. Our site pages list any specific access restrictions, but usually it is just be respectful of other’s land.
I am new to Geocaching – what am I looking for at each cache site?
All of our caches are either 7x10” green ammo cans, or large fake rocks. They may be hidden under rocks, pieces of wood or in stumps, but they are never buried. Please leave the cache exactly as you found it – if it was covered in rocks, cover it up again after you have found it.
I don’t have a GPS, can I still participate?
Yes, each site includes driving access information and we have letterbox clues to guide people without GPS to each of our sites. Just print the letterbox clues page from our “sites & letterbox clues” page.
Is there a time limit to complete my sticker collecting?
No, the sites are all permanent caches, so they should stay indefinitely. If it takes you multiple years to collect 24 stickers, you can still redeem for your prize.
Why are there three different coordinates on some site pages?
Often we are not able to place the cache right at the historical/significant spot. In those cases, we will separate coordinates for the historical/significant spot. Generally we have three types of coordinates:
Location – indicates the historical/significant spot
Geocache location – indicates where the cache is actually hidden
Parking coordinates – the recommended or safest place to park your vehicle
What if there are no stickers left in the cache box?
Each cache has a code on the bag containing the log book. If there are no stickers left, write this code on your page in place of the sticker to prove your find.
Once I have found 24 sites, can I start another sticker page and continue finding caches?
Yes, you can redeem more than one sticker sheet - but you can only use each site once per year. So if you want to redeem 2 sticker sheets, you must visit 48 different caches.
I want to do this for our vacation next year, can we redeem for another prize?
Yes, but you can only use each site once per year towards your prize redemption.
Can I take an extra sticker for my site page at each cache?
Yes, you may take two stickers – one for your sticker redemption page, and if you wish, one to place in your field guide/site page for your records.
